5 Reasons Why You Need To Visit Bolivia

Have you ever thought of traveling to Bolivia? Or has it been overshadowed by other continents, other countries, and other reasons? Well think again because it could be just the destination you were looking to experience. Here are five reasons why you need to visit Bolivia.

1. It’s Stunning

From the highest capital city in the world, to the highest lake, the highest desert, and the world’s largest salt flats, Bolivia can offer you all sorts of stunning environments to check out, explore, and experience. The only thing missing is a beach destination, but Lake Titicaca covers that as you often feel you’re near the ocean when you look out into its endless expanse of water. It is the largest lake in all of South America after all.

2. It’s Adventurous

Want to bike down the world’s most dangerous road? Or rappel face-first down a 15 story building in the middle of the capital city? Or maybe you are interested in hiking mountains over 6000 meters above sea level. Bolivia can offer you all the adrenaline rushes and adventure you just might be looking for and more.

3. It’s Cheap

At roughly 6 Bolivianos to the Canadian dollar, the exchange rate in Bolivia is pretty fantastic. At most restaurants you can buy a three course meal for about $6 and a hostel room is often around $5, so worrying about spending your hard earned dollars just isn’t something  you need to concern yourself with, which leaves you more time and money to enjoy all the amazing activities this country offers.

4. It Has a Rich Culture and History

Women and men stroll the streets in the traditional dress of the Indigenous people, carrying children in colorful blankets on their back, while others serve up hot dishes of local and traditional foods from their tiny street vendor kiosks. There’s a huge colonial architectural influence seen in the beautiful churches and main squares in most cities, and if you get out into the countryside, you get to see shepherds with their llamas and sheep wandering the countryside.

5. It’s Welcoming

Bolivia is a country that is welcoming and friendly and a great place to learn about a new and exciting culture despite its high levels of poverty. The peoples spirit and heart shine through and they are genuinely excited to meet and engage in conversation with tourists, no matter how poor your Spanish might be.
