Lioness Takes Down Wildebeest On Safari in Tanzania’s Serengeti

It’s one of those activities on almost everyone’s bucket list: a safari in the Serengeti.

I was fortunate to spend 5 days on safari in the Serengeti and Ngorongoro crater in Tanzania. I also was able to share the experience with my mom – one of my favourite people in the entire world.
But even more exciting was the chance to watch two lionesses on the hunt – right in front of our land cruiser.  With perfect timing, we watched a lioness take down a wildebeest from front row seating.

We also saw the amassing of hundreds of thousands of wildebeest as part of the annual great migration. The wildebeest and their young had just started to make the trek north in the Serengeti.

You can bet both of these experiences made the video! Check it out below.

  1. That trip looks amazing! I’ve always wanted to travel to Africa, one day hopefully! Camping in just a canvas tent like that would terrify me haha!

    1. At first it was a bit scary as when we rolled up into camp, there were Cape buffalo and zebras hanging around. But because they know people are in camp – they don’t bother you and the tents are very safe 🙂 I hope you can get to Africa one day too! 🙂
