Ashlyn George is an award-winning Canadian travel writer, author, content creator, photographer, videographer, and television personality based in Saskatchewan, Canada.
Best known for blending adventure, storytelling, and practical travel advice, Ashlyn has spent more than a decade exploring the world and sharing meaningful stories from both remote international destinations and her own Canadian backyard.
About Ashlyn
After completing two degrees (B.A, B.Ed.), Ashlyn traded the traditional career path for a solo ticket around the world — setting off on what was originally meant to be a five-year journey. Since then, she has travelled to nearly 70 countries across 7 continents, building a career around authentic storytelling, outdoor adventure, and cultural exploration.
Ashlyn is a co-author of Lonely Planet’s Best Bike Rides Canada, an internationally recognized travel guide showcasing some of the country’s most unforgettable biking adventures.
Her work has appeared in publications, campaigns, and media projects across Canada and internationally, with a focus on experiential travel, outdoor adventure, road trips, and human-interest storytelling.
How it Became a Career
In 2015, Ashlyn became the official travel blogger and online personality for the Government of Saskatchewan’s “Saskatchewanderer” program, documenting the province through film, photography, writing, and social media. Since then, she has continued to work as a freelance digital media creator and on-camera host, partnering with tourism boards, brands, and organizations to create compelling visual and written content.
Awards + Recognition
Her work and storytelling have earned numerous recognitions, including induction as a Tourism Builder by Hospitality Saskatchewan, multiple awards for her writing and photos from the Travel Media Association of Canada, the Sask Parks and Recreation Leadership Excellence Award, CBC Saskatchewan’s Future 40, Saskatchewan Tourism Travel Media Award, and a YWCA Women of Distinction nomination. Her website was also named Best Saskatchewan Blog by SaskNOW.
